Ricewood MUD was recognized by the Harris County Sheriff's Office for its ongoing support of first responders through National Night Out events.

The Ricewood Municipal Utility District’s Board of Directors and several first responder agencies were happy to get together with residents of the community on October 1 for National Night Out. More than 120 residents joined Board members and representatives from Harris County Emergency Services District 48, Katy ISD Police and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for the annual event.
The District would like to thank McRoberts Elementary for providing the venue and all of the first responders and residents that attended this year’s annual event. A special thanks also to MUD Director Carrie Prudhomme for all of her efforts to help organize the event and all of the volunteers who made the event a tremendous success.
“This year’s National Night Out was clear skies and no rain,” Prudhomme said. “Families enjoyed the tacos, snow cones, listening to the DJ playing music and talking with each other and the first responders.”
National Night Out is an annual event that connects civilians with first responders for community building and education about what first responders do. Emergency agencies put their equipment on display and spoke with residents about fire safety, crime prevention and other safety-related topics. The annual event is also an opportunity for residents to get to know their first responders and show appreciation for services provided to their neighborhoods.
Food and refreshments were provided by Wylie Street Tacos and Journey Ice.
