National Night Out (NNO), a community to first responder awareness raising event, is scheduled to fall on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. This year, Ricewood MUD brings you National Night Out (NNO) in a unique and health-conscious way. This page is your resource for information on the fire and police representatives that serve your neighborhood, as well as relevant safety education. NNO is meant to enhance the relationship between neighbors and first responders within the community.
Former United States Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, a native Texan, has been quoted saying, “The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings. National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities.” In times like these, this statement still rings true. A sense of community is invaluable under the current circumstances.
NNO was initially introduced in August of 1984 through a network of law enforcement agencies and neighborhood watch groups, among other volunteer alliances. That year, 2.5 million neighbors throughout 400 communities in 23 states gathered to celebrate balance and solidarity between law enforcement and the community. In the State of Texas, there are 548 cities that participate in NNO, including the Greater Houston Area and many bordering suburbs.
To honor NNO, with the help of WCA, Ricewood MUD has provided a way for residents of this community to participate in a safe way. With a police escort, snow cone trucks will be making their way through the neighborhood on October 6th from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., offering free snow cones to residents. In addition, residents will have an opportunity to participate in the efforts to feed the hungry by donating non-perishables.

A message from WCA
Happy National Night Out!
WCA is fully aware that these are trying times, as COVID 19 has impacted our personal lives as well as how companies operate day to day.
As a result, WCA has also been affected by the pandemic, causing service issues that residents may have noticed over the last month or so. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we have sponsored the snow cone trucks that will be in your community for the National Night Out celebration.
Please enjoy!
